The stellar entertainment roster is led by a strong and diverse presence of kick-ass female artists including two-time Grammy nominee Elle KingOrange is the New Black stars DJ Taryn Manning and comedian Lea DeLaria, celebrity DJs Samantha Ronson, L Word iconic star, Kate Moennig & UH HUH HER’s lead singer Camila Grey (who together form The X-Names), international top model Madison Paige, and one of the most exciting figures of today’s rap scene, Angel Haze.

They’ll be joined by pop newcomer JoLivi and the all-female power pop/punk band and The Real L Word Season 3 cast members, Hunter Valentine who will perform their farewell show - their scheduled last stop – to thank the fans for one hell of an amazing ride.

If that weren’t hot enough, did we mention the “Hot as L” party, one of the Dinah Shore Weekend’s signature events?

Bringing back the magic of Showtime’s hugely popular lesbian drama series and reality TV show, The L Word & The Real L Word, “Hot as L” will feature some of our community’s most beloved and popular stars including Elizabeth KeenerClementine Ford and Tracy Reyerson.

It will be a weekend of high-energy performances and premieres whether singing in front of a mic or spinning records behind the turntables. World famous cover girl and super model Madison Paige is set to debut her music career at the epic lesbian event this spring.

This year the Dinah is putting an extra focus on trail-blazing female DJs with a diverse group of high-profile talent all bringing something different to the decks.

Taryn Manning, international DJ, musician and star of the Netflix hit original series Orange is the New Black. is undeniably a go-to favorite of the entertainment industry. Whether on screen, behind a mic or putting the needle on the record or on a piece of fabric, this triple threat does it all and does it impressively well.

With an exceptional ear for music, DJ Taryn Manning has emerged as the club scene's golden child. Manning has booked gigs including high profiled events such as House of Hype's Sundance and Coachella parties, Rock The Vote Friends & Family Grammy Party, and Richard Bransons Rock The Casbah, to name a few.

Joining her are Camila Grey and Kate Moennig slated to bring their trademark tomboyish style, sexy swagger and killer turntables to the Dinah, adding their names to an already phenomenal 2016 Entertainment line-up. This will mark the first time the beloved ladies who together form The X-Names, will team up to showcase their spinning skills.

What started as “dabbling” for this electrifying pair quickly spiraled into a DJ partnership that has been successful beyond anything they both could have ever imagined.

Now together X-Names - who spin a blend of Indy, Deep House, Darkwave, Nuwave, Nowave, Electro, Disco, Hip-Hop, 70's and 80's - travel the world to play a variety of clubs and parties entertaining A-List clients such Stella McCartney and Amour Vert, to name a few.

These community icons are about to pack the Dinah dance floor with high voltage vibes taking the epic all-girl party to a whole new zenith.

The five-day world-renown weekend is already making a lot of noise and is well on its way to be the most EPIC Dinah ever … you'd never seen anything like it yet!

REVIEW: Uh Huh Her @ Sound Control Manchester, UK

Well, here's the Uh Huh Her gig review I promised... And what a gig it was!

In fact, the gig was so good that I've resorted to planning a tattoo of some UHH lyrics. It was simply inspiring.

Of course, many of the people were only there to see "Alice from The L Word", with one or two fans shouting "marry me, Alice!" at the top of their voices, which really irritated me. When will you all learn that Alice and Leisha (Hailey) are two completely different people!? i.e. One's real and one's a character from a television show. Is it really that hard a concept to grasp?

I however, unlike the select few others, was there because I am a huge fan of the band's music: I have every single one of their songs that I can find; both of their albums, both of their EPs... I'm a 'superfan', some would say.

As a huge Leisha fan, I was extremely surprised to come out of the venue in Manchester loving Hailey's band-mate Camila Grey more than I ever thought I could. Grey's voice was sultry, smooth and beautiful, and her stage presence was sick. She oozed both sex appeal and coolness, with that perfect little bit of nerdiness underneath her broody exterior.

As Cam played the electric guitar, bass and synth with style and f*cking awesome talent, Leisha held her own too. My first thoughts were "oh my gosh, she's so tiny", but damn, can she rock out.

When it was time for her to play a song she wrote herself from Uh Huh Her's second album titled 'Debris', (which is about phone sex, apparently) she sang in a much deeper tone than any of us L Word fans are used to, but it was god damn sexy at the same time.

What particularly stood out was the duo's acoustic version of fan-favourite, Common Reaction, in which we could really hear the expertise of the couple's voices and technical acoustic guitar playing.

Perhaps one of my favourite moments, however, was the following dialogue that occurred.
Crazed Fan: Marry me, Leisha!
Leisha: Uhh... (With a sly smile). I'm taken.
Camila: I'm not scared of you people.
I'm not sure if the rest of the room heard this, because I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the room who screamed out in approval. They're definitely the hottest, coolest couple you can imagine.

On the whole, Uh Huh Her were just a pleasure to watch. Everything about the gig was simply perfection and the pair should be proud of themselves for achieving so much in so little time.

I'd recommend them to everyone - not just the lesbians! - and especially to those who are fans of Bowie, Arcade Fire, Blonde Redhead and the like.

Cam, Leisha... I salute you.

Lip Service Is BACK!

Hey gays, lesbians and all those in between!

Today (as I write this, actually), season 2 of British lesbian drama Lip Service is back on our screens.

Why am I not watching it, you ask? Well, as I suck at most aspects of life, I completely forgot that it was on, so I'll be waiting for the online catch up.

So what do you all think will happen this season? Will Frankie (Ruta Gedmintas) and Cat (Laura Fraserfinally truly be together? And if so, what will happen to the hot cop?

I may or may not be providing you dykes with a recap or review of episode 1 of season 2 once I've watched it. And it will probably include a lot of praise for my favourite lovable nerd, Tess (played by Fiona Button). She's so adorable, I can't even...

However, tomorrow I will be witnessing the incredible Uh Huh Her live here in the UK, so a review of their gig will probably come first.

I know, you're all jealous.

Uh Huh Her News

I'm sure it's a while since we've properly heard of these two gorgeous ladies.

Yep, you all know The L Word's Leisha Hailey on the left, and the equally beautiful one on the right is lead vocalist of their band Uh Huh Her, Camila Grey.

All you really to know is that, right now, the duo are touring North America and Canada, and I'm pretty sure they're headlining an all-girl music fest in the UK in the summer.

The band also have a brand new EP out titled 'Black & Blue', which you can purchase on their website.

Watch the following video to hear how the pair ended up writing a song for Oscar-nominated lesbian movie The Kids Are All Right, starring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore.

10 Favorite Lesbian Anthems...

So there are a lot of songs that I class personally as 'lesbians anthems'. I was just wondering, would 2009 produce any more great songs loved by Sapphic ladies?

Here I've produced a list of 10 songs (in no order!) that I, along with my lesbian friends, really love. It was harder to compile this list than I thought it would be, but I got there in the end... (Thanks to my friend Rosie.) And I've been extra careful not to let any lesbian imposters slip in there...

1) Hit Me With Your Best Shot (1980) - Pat Benatar.

So Pat isn't a lesbian... Doesn't mean we don't love her! With catchy lyrics, who cares?
If you like this song, you should also listen to:
  • Heartbreaker.
  • Love Is A Battlefield.
  • Shadows Of The Night.
2) Wait Another Day (2008) - Uh Huh Her.

1 lesbian. 1 possible lesbian. And that's not the best part! A relatively new band, starring The L Word's Leisha Hailey and the gorgeous Camila Grey, Uh Huh Her have charmed lesbian audiences all over the globe. They love their fans, and we love them.
Also listen to:
  • Covered.
  • Dreamer.
  • Not A Love Song.
3) Entertain (2005) - Sleater-Kinney.

Riot grrrl at it's best. There aren't really many riot bands left, but this song takes you back to the time when we were flooded with it. Great to dance to!
Also listen to:
  • One Beat.
  • All Hands On The Bad One.
  • What's Mine Is Yours.
4) Closer To Fine (1988) - Indigo Girls.

I have to say, the Indigo Girls are possibly one of my favorite lesbian bands... Ever. Their lyrics are sweet and meaningful and Closer To Fine just generally makes me happy.
Also listen to:
  • Romeo and Juliet.
  • Galileo.
  • Let It Be Me.
5) Crazy On You (1976) - Heart.

Gosh, look at that photo... You know you thought Heart were stunning back in the day. And their songs are raw, with guitar solos that almost make you pee your pants. Okay, maybe not pee your pants, but I'm sure you love them so much that you would pee your pants if they asked you to.
Also listen to:
  • Shell Shock.
  • Alone.
  • What About Love.
6) Not Listening (2008) - Sick Of Sarah.

The youngest and newest band of this list, Sick of Sarah are the closest thing to Riot Grrrl I've heard in years. They're catchy, wild and just plain gorgeous. To top it all off, their tune 'Not Listening' become the theme song to AfterEllen.com's Brunch With Bridget last year.
Also listen to:
  • Daisies.
  • Mr. Incredible.
  • Breakdown.
7) Echoing (1994) - The Murmurs.

Well done to Leisha Hailey! This is the second band featured in our list in which the lovely Ms. Hailey was a member of, but this song deserved a place. The best lyric obviously being "There's nothing disgusting about being gay, so many people have bad things to say, maybe they should try it some day..." What's not to love?!
Also listen to:
  • Genius.
  • La-Di-Da.
  • Underdog.
8) Down By The Water (1995) - PJ Harvey.

Despite being aesthetically yummy, lesbians love PJ Harvey's dreamy lyrics and beautiful songs. And there's nothing better to listen whilst having hot, steamy bedroom time. Not that I would know, of course...
Also listen to:
  • We Float.
  • Hair.
  • Rid Of Me.
9) Sucka Mofo (2007) - Northern State.

The final modern band on the list, Northern State are ultimately just... uber cool! Looking at them, you wouldn't think they were a rap group, but they are quite possibly the only rap group I can actually stand.
Also listen to:
  • Away Away.
  • Girl For All Seasons.
  • Vicious Cycle.
10) Edge of Seventeen (1982) - Stevie Nicks.

Last, but definitely not least, what lesbian music list would be complete without a dosage of Stevie Nicks? Amazing vocalist, amazing song-writer, is there anyone who will ever beat Stevie? Probably not. I'm willing to take on anyone who challenges that last statement...
Also listen to:
  • Leather And Lace.
  • And The Days Go By.
  • Crystal.
So there we have it, my top ten lesbian anthems and artists. Comment this with anyone you think I've missed.

And please don't kill me for not including Tegan & Sara in this blog...
