Lesbian Favourite "Lip Service" Gets Cancelled

One word: NOOOOOOO!

I personally don't understand why, as Lip Service has always done pretty well in the ratings for a BBC Three show.

Alas, its true. Our favourite British lesbian show is no more.

Show creator Harriet Braun tweeted this to the fans:

Aw, man. I'll personally miss "shady" Sadie the most - she was damn hilarious!

Maybe the show went downhill after Lip Service killed off Laura Fraser's character, Cat.

I'm way behind on this tidbit: Laura left because she was cast in (another awesome show!) Homeland. However, she was replaced after the pilot was filmed.

Anyways, it will be sorely missed.

Which character will you miss most? Do you think Lip Service should have been picked up for a third season? Give me your opinions, I love to read them!

BBC's True Love Hits A Lesbian High

You may remember all that time ago when I mentioned the new BBC drama, True Love. Well, I hope you do, because you have Alzheimer's if not. I only told you yesterday.

Anyway, last night saw the turn of Billie Piper (Doctor Who, Secret Diary of a Call Girl) and Kaya Scodelario (Skins, Clash of the Titans), who played out a lesbian romance between a school teacher and her student.

The first two episodes saw both couples you were rooting for end with a break up, but episode 3 did something television barely ever does: two women in love stayed together! That's right, no one died, no one went back to their boyfriends... BBC won my heart on this one.

Not only that, but both Piper and Scodelario acted extremely well. I wouldn't say this drama is for everyone, but growing up with a performing background, I could see the awesomeness of it.

Sometimes the writing and the performances were so realistic, it actually made me a little uncomfortable, just as I would be if these things were happening to me in real life. One specific part which really struck a nerve was when Piper's English students began chanting "lesbian" at her in a taunting manner. Really heart-wrenching stuff.

What I'm saying is, if you can, you should all watch it. If only just this episode. It's beautifully written and put together, although it may not be to some of your tastes.

The next episode's protagonist is played by one of my favourite British actresses, Jane Horrocks, who you may remember from TV's Absolutely Fabulous or, if you're as niche as I am, the wonderful movie, Little VoiceJane won't be playing a lesbian, but if you're into phenomenal acting, I'd suggest you tuned in for this one!

A double bill of True Love starts tonight at 10.45pm on BBC1.

Kaya Scodelario & Billie Piper's Lesbian Appearance

Who in the UK has been watching the new BBC drama, True Love?

Unfortunately for those of you abroad, you won't be able to see True Love or catch up with it online, but I'm sure it'll come to BBC America pretty soon.

But what is it about?

There are actually only 5 episodes in the series, but each one is about one of the characters pictured above.

Episode 1 saw David Tennant, a.k.a Doctor Who, playing Nick, who cheats on his wife with his first love, Serena, played by Vicky McClure, of This is England fame. Then it was the turn of Ashley Walters, who cheated on his wife (played by Eastenders soapstar, Lacey Turner) with a girl he just met and then fell in love with.

A pretty star-studded cast for a minor UK drama, right?

Anyway, this week (tonight in fact, at 10.30pm on BBC1) its the turn of Billie Piper as Holly, a teacher who falls in love with her student, played by Skins actress, Kaya Scodelario.

Will you be tuning in? There isn't much information on the episode as of yet, but the teaser for episode 3 sees Piper getting quite angry at her on-screen Mum and Scodelario looking quite the love-struck teenager.

Nevertheless, if its as good as the first two episodes have been, I'll be sure to inform you!

Lip Service Is BACK!

Hey gays, lesbians and all those in between!

Today (as I write this, actually), season 2 of British lesbian drama Lip Service is back on our screens.

Why am I not watching it, you ask? Well, as I suck at most aspects of life, I completely forgot that it was on, so I'll be waiting for the online catch up.

So what do you all think will happen this season? Will Frankie (Ruta Gedmintas) and Cat (Laura Fraserfinally truly be together? And if so, what will happen to the hot cop?

I may or may not be providing you dykes with a recap or review of episode 1 of season 2 once I've watched it. And it will probably include a lot of praise for my favourite lovable nerd, Tess (played by Fiona Button). She's so adorable, I can't even...

However, tomorrow I will be witnessing the incredible Uh Huh Her live here in the UK, so a review of their gig will probably come first.

I know, you're all jealous.
