REVIEW: Uh Huh Her @ Sound Control Manchester, UK
Well, here's the Uh Huh Her gig review I promised... And what a gig it was!
In fact, the gig was so good that I've resorted to planning a tattoo of some UHH lyrics. It was simply inspiring.
Of course, many of the people were only there to see "Alice from The L Word", with one or two fans shouting "marry me, Alice!" at the top of their voices, which really irritated me. When will you all learn that Alice and Leisha (Hailey) are two completely different people!? i.e. One's real and one's a character from a television show. Is it really that hard a concept to grasp?
I however, unlike the select few others, was there because I am a huge fan of the band's music: I have every single one of their songs that I can find; both of their albums, both of their EPs... I'm a 'superfan', some would say.
As a huge Leisha fan, I was extremely surprised to come out of the venue in Manchester loving Hailey's band-mate Camila Grey more than I ever thought I could. Grey's voice was sultry, smooth and beautiful, and her stage presence was sick. She oozed both sex appeal and coolness, with that perfect little bit of nerdiness underneath her broody exterior.

As Cam played the electric guitar, bass and synth with style and f*cking awesome talent, Leisha held her own too. My first thoughts were "oh my gosh, she's so tiny", but damn, can she rock out.
When it was time for her to play a song she wrote herself from Uh Huh Her's second album titled 'Debris', (which is about phone sex, apparently) she sang in a much deeper tone than any of us L Word fans are used to, but it was god damn sexy at the same time.
What particularly stood out was the duo's acoustic version of fan-favourite, Common Reaction, in which we could really hear the expertise of the couple's voices and technical acoustic guitar playing.
Perhaps one of my favourite moments, however, was the following dialogue that occurred.
On the whole, Uh Huh Her were just a pleasure to watch. Everything about the gig was simply perfection and the pair should be proud of themselves for achieving so much in so little time.
I'd recommend them to everyone - not just the lesbians! - and especially to those who are fans of Bowie, Arcade Fire, Blonde Redhead and the like.
Cam, Leisha... I salute you.

Crazed Fan: Marry me, Leisha!I'm not sure if the rest of the room heard this, because I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the room who screamed out in approval. They're definitely the hottest, coolest couple you can imagine.

Camila: I'm not scared of you people.

Lip Service Is BACK!
Hey gays, lesbians and all those in between!
Today (as I write this, actually), season 2 of British lesbian drama Lip Service is back on our screens.
Why am I not watching it, you ask? Well, as I suck at most aspects of life, I completely forgot that it was on, so I'll be waiting for the online catch up.
So what do you all think will happen this season? Will Frankie (Ruta Gedmintas) and Cat (Laura Fraser) finally truly be together? And if so, what will happen to the hot cop?
I may or may not be providing you dykes with a recap or review of episode 1 of season 2 once I've watched it. And it will probably include a lot of praise for my favourite lovable nerd, Tess (played by Fiona Button). She's so adorable, I can't even...
However, tomorrow I will be witnessing the incredible Uh Huh Her live here in the UK, so a review of their gig will probably come first.
I know, you're all jealous.

AfterEllen's Ultimate Kissing Championship: Who Did They Miss?
You may or may not know that AfterEllen is hosting an Ultimate Lesbian Kissing Championship. (Click HERE to vote if this is new to you!)
Firstly, I'd like to say how pointless I find it (Glee's "Brittana" will win, they win everything because they're in the present and no one has forgotten about them yet... I'll be surprised if they don't take the crown).
But I realised that there are lesbian kisses that AE failed to mention. Here are the first few that came to my mind.
Lauren/Kenzi (Lost Girl).
The AfterEllen version included main lesbian couple, Bo & Lauren, but failed to mentioned the hotness that was this kiss.

Kenzi, a.k.a Ksenia Solo, a.k.a the Light of my Life, (right) failed to get a mention in this valiant effort.
Alas, Bo was only hallucinating that this happened, but when it was first aired, I absolutely died. It was ridiculously hot.
Willow/Kennedy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Of course, Willow & Tara are everyone's favourite Buffy couple, but what about Kennedy?
Of course, everyone hated Kennedy. Less because she was a bitch and more because she was the 'replacement' for their beloved Tara.
However, this kiss was hot. And so was the one on the bed. And their first kiss... Before Willow turned into the man she killed.
Kim/Sugar (Sugar Rush).
A less well known couple are Kim & Sugar from British series, Sugar Rush.
The series, for those of you who didn't know, follows Kim (a teenage lesbian) who has the biggest crush on her best friend, Sugar (above right).
At the end of season 1, fans finally got to see the pair kiss, but we'll forgive AE for forgoing this one, as they put Kim and Saint (her later girlfriend) up instead.
Cassie/Thelma (Hex).
A perhaps even less well known British series, and one that is GREATLY unappreciated.
So now you're interested, huh? Hex was basically a short-lived UK series that was a mix between Buffy, Lost Girl and humour that resembles Sugar Rush.
This scene in particular was incredibly sexy. And the whole series included one of my favourite, under-rated actors of all time, Jemima Rooper, who also guest starred in Sugar Rush for one episode.
(I could go on to mention Thelma's sex scene with girlfriend, Maya, but I'll just stick a video of it in instead for your pleasure. Plus, I find her Irish girlfriend, played by Laura Donnelly most adorable).

Lesbian Favourite "Skins" is Cancelled
Whether you're from the UK or not, you'll have heard about Skins. Whether that's because a US version recently aired on MTV or because you're a lesbian and you can't help but love 'Naomily', everyone knows of it.
Yep, now you're remembering. Every lesbian I know has shipped Naomily (Lily Loveless, left, who played Naomi, and Kathryn Prescott, who played Emily) in some way, shape or form during their lives.
Anyway, Skins, sadly, has recently been cancelled by UK television network, Channel 4.
If you've stuck with Skins up until Generation 3, you'll have also spotted that the writers built-up fan-favourite, 'Minky'; an amalgamation of Mini (Freya Mavor) and Franky (Dakota Blue Richards) - two girls who seemed destined to be together until their storyline was ignored in season 6.
What I'm trying to say is, Skins was epic in terms of both lesbian and gay, male relationships. (There was also generation 1's Maxxie and generation 3's newbie, Alex, to keep the men happy).
It'll be sad to see it go...
But for all of you who aren't ready to see it go just yet, there will be a season 7!

Ignorant Homophobia On 'The View'.
This week, Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez (who plays bisexual surgeon Callie Torres on the show) appeared on TV talk show, The View.

Okay, okay, I'm not one to rant and rave about political correctness, especially when it's in referral to a TV show. But when the topic of lesbian sex came up and the dumb, ignorant bitch on the right of Sara said "you must have a big male audience"? That is not okay at all.
The fact that anyone thinks that lesbian couples should be made the subject of such animalistic voyeurism - by either men or women - is disgraceful.
Yes, I understand that this is a television show: the characters are not real and the point of a television show is to become a voyeur, so to speak. But when statements such as this one are said in a real-life context, it is obvious that if Sara was a lesbian in real life and she spoke about having sex with her wife, that same ignorant hockey Mom would have made a similar comment.
What's more is that when words such as this are broadcast on day time television, it becomes 'okay' for America's children and indeed other adults to spread and take on such disgusting views.
Nowhere in the history of television would you see this happen when talking about a straight couple. For instance, if Sara was in a straight relationship on Grey's, none of the above hosts would have said "I bet the audience masturbate to your sex scenes a lot", yet that is basically what is being said in this interview about a lesbian couple.
The idea that a lesbian couple are together only for the pleasure of straight male onlookers is possibly the one thing that I encounter day-to-day and can not stand. Why should it be okay for public figures to support this theory?
On a lighter note, my friend Rita would like me to point out that Sara is not actually marrying 'Ryan', but is really marrying her. Ryan is just her code name. *

Brittana Who?
Yep, I'm failing you ladies again. Sorry! (I have a lot of work to do right now, but thought I'd take a break to write quickly for you.)
In fact, I'd like to take this moment to discuss with you the lesbian discontent surrounding girl-on-girl Glee couple, 'Brittana'.
You know who I'm talking about. I'm talking about Brittany (played by dance-extraordinaire, Heather Morris) and Santana (the gorgeous Naya Rivera).
You may or may not have heard that cast-mate Lea Michele, who plays Rachel on the show, explained that Brittany & Santana have had just as much storyline on the show as Rachel & Finn (Cory Monteith).
Lea, baby, I love you, but WHAT THE F ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Not only have we had sex scenes, marriage proposals and actual ON-SCREEN TIME TOGETHER, but Brittana are yet to even kiss on-screen.
Now why aren't we being treated equally here? For the past few episodes, Brittany & Santana have not actually said one word to each other.
Creators Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk claim that Brittana did kiss on the bed in season 2. Bullshit.
Kissing involves actually touching of the lips. Am I right?
Is it just me, or should we start a petition to get actual on-screen, kissing time from Brittana?
