INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN: Nikki & Nora Season 2!

tello Films Launches Indiegogo Fundraising Campaign to Produce Season 2 of Nikki & Nora

As fans clearly don’t want to let go of the hugely popular crime fighting lesbian couple in America’s oldest party town, tello films, Nancylee Myatt and the cast of NIKKI & NORA have launched a fundraising campaign to bring Season 2 to computer screens around the world.

The campaign will be running until mid-March and is expected to break its previous record.
The fundraising campaign for Nikki & Nora Season One was indeed the largest funded campaign for a series with lesbian lead characters, raising $65,000, surpassing their goal by 30%.

Nikki & Nora follows New Orleans locals Nikki Beaumont (Liz Vassey) and Nora Delaney (Christina Cox), former NOPD cops turned private investigators in the Big Easy post Katrina.  They navigate the channels of their personal life together alongside their dedication to uncovering the truth in the one city that really likes to keep its secrets. The original lead actresses are joined by a super cast of other familiar faces including Janina Gavankar (best known as “Papi” on Showtime’s The L Word) and Aasha Davis (Pariah, South of Nowhere), among others.

Originally created in 2004 for the now defunct UPN network, the series would revolve around two professional and romantic female partners who worked for the Special Crimes Unit of the New Orleans Police Department. UPN passed on the show, but the unaired episode didn’t die and instead made its way to YouTube.

The show became a critical online smash and somewhat of an internet phenomenon - a juggernaut of watercooler talk that ran rampant over social media and some of today’s major online trendspotters. While the pilot accumulated dust on a shelf for 9 years, with loyal fans keeping their love thriving through fan-fiction sites, Nikki & Nora was at last reborn as a web series.

Now, in the Netflix and overall online tradition, fans can boot up their computers, grab a bowl of popcorn, laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll) and enjoy a binge-watching marathon of “ N&N” indulging in seven glorious episodes all at once on tellofilms.com

Dattch, The LESBIAN DATING APP Is Coming To LA!

After months of speculation and demands, Dattch is finally launching for lesbian, bisexual and queer women in LA. The app that made it easier than ever to meet and talk with women will be launching in Los Angeles on Friday 9th May.

Dattch rose to fame in the UK and across the US by creating something unprecedented: a lesbian app that was actually designed for women. No more re-skins of gay male apps. Since their release in San Francisco just 8 weeks ago, Dattch has seen thousands of requests from across America but LA drove the most downloads, making it the next city for the app to be released in.

With their female driven user experience and beautiful design, it’s clear from the outset the difference this makes. With Pinterest inspired profiles, girls upload images to show who they really are, pulling from their Instagram and Facebook feeds.

To coincide with the launch they’re releasing an overhaul to their most popular feature Would You Rather. Women now choose between two profiles and matches get a conversation opener. It’s less about Hot or Not, more about personal preference. And the girls are hooked; since going live in January, they’re seeing it played over 150,000 times per month.

But most controversially, Dattch grabbed headlines by only allowing female identified users on the app. With totally private Facebook sign in they’re the only app to have no male identified users on a lesbian site. Shocking. But finally lesbian, bisexual, queer, pansexual, flexisexual and every woman under the sun can finally get used to using an app that is just for them.

Dattch will continue to launch in the US on a city by city basis and users can request for their city to be next by voting in the app. The minute 2000 requests from any city are received, Dattch will publish the app live.

New and Sexy Queer Web Series, "Love Bytes"

PRESS RELEASE: Award-winning writer/director, Tonnette Stanford and her sister, Victoria Stanford, are the lesbian filmmakers behind an exciting new LGBT web series on YouTube now.

Love Bytes – the web series is an six-part sitcom centred around three housemates and their adventurous love lives. They are the Neapolitan ice cream of sexuality. Young, sexy and single, they search for love and happiness in Sydney’s modern hetero-flexible dating scene, but instead they often find humiliation and hilarious misadventure. But no matter what happens, they always have each other.

With assistance from Metro Screen’s Breaks program Tonnette and Victoria were able to shoot the two pilots for Love Bytes, with another four episodes coming soon. Keep an eye out for the crowd funding campaign that will be launched in the next couple of months to help fund the rest of the series.

"Herpes of the Lips," the first pilot, tackles what's become a digital and universal dilemma: fake profile pictures. Michael thinks he's meeting a sexy Bollywood model for a drink, but is unpleasantly surprised. Lucky for him, his cold sore-cursed roommate comes to save the day….and leaves a lasting (and contagious) impression.

The second pilot, "Justin Beaver" explores what happens when a precious family heirloom gets lost in the most unusual (and intimate) of places. Yes, it's exactly what you think, and the consequences are uproarious.

Tonnette and Victoria have a very distinct style in the queer filmmaking space and their previous films have screened at over 180 festivals around the world and received international acclaim. To make Love Bytes a reality they have gathered together a talented team of AFTRS graduates and NIDA trained actors, including gay actors, Adriano Cappelletta, Billie Rose Prichard, Bec Irwin and Dave Halalilo.

"I have wanted to make a queer web series for a long time and there are so many fantastic queer dating stories out there that I felt compelled to write a show that features dating from a lesbian and gay perspective," Tonnette explains.
"The show is fun, sexy and hilarious," Victoria adds. "There’s a lot of situations in there that will be very familiar to audiences and we hope that they can have a good laugh at the absurdity of the queer dating world that we’ve all been through!"

Check out Love Bytes on YouTube and, if you want to see what the remaining four episodes have in store, make sure to subscribe, follow, like, share.

Lesbians on YouTube: Arielle Scarcella

If you may or may not remember, not so long back we interviewed the lovely "YouTube famous" Natasha Nicole Ponomaroff.

Well we thought it was about time to let you know about some more amazing lesbian vloggers from the YouTube universe.

Because YouTube is completely free to use, it's a great resource for LGBTQ information and advice. And
that's where Arielle Scarcella comes in.

Arielle is no stranger to the online community - her videos have become relatively famous, thanks to her witty, useful commentary revolving around many lesbian and gay issues.

In her most recent video, Arielle asks lesbians to explain how they feel about their lesbian peers sleeping with men.
One of the huge stigmas in the LGBT community, are lesbians who secretly sleep with men. Can they still be lesbians if they don't fully fit the definition? Why do they sleep with men if they identify this way? You have to watch to find out!
Where can you watch? Go here for Arielle's YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ArielleIsHamming.

Do you know of any other amazing LGBTQ YouTubers you think we should mention on All Things Lesbian?

Let us know in the comments or email us with your ideas at allthingsles@gmail.com!

Interview with Lesbian Social Networking Mogul, Natasha Nicole Ponomaroff!

Remember that time you asked for us to interview YouTube/Tumblr/Twitter/everywhere famous, Natasha Nicole Ponomaroff?

Well, look what we have here!

All Things Lesbian: The accessibility of the internet around the world has led many young (and old!) lesbian and bisexual women to look up to you. How does this feel? Do you ever feel as though you're under any pressure?

Natasha: I feel rather honored to have such an online presence and I honestly would never take my audience for granted. Coming out is never an easy task, accepting your sexuality is never an easy task, and having to go through both on my own wasn't an easy task. If there was ONE thing I hope to be, it's an outlet for other young LGBT youth who may be struggling with the same struggles I once faced. I want them to look at me and my life and realize that things DO get better, and they will. You just have to stay brave and stay true to who you are. Having such a strong online influence does add a degree of pressure. I know I have a lot of younger girls who look up to me making me in an essence their role model. Although I'm no saint, I do like to present myself in the most respectable of ways. I want to teach women to be somebodies, not somebody's. (Great quote, but it's not mine so don't quote me on that one!)

ATL: Just in case our readers having been living under a rock, when you vlog, what do you like to vlog about?

N: When I vlog I literally never have a set plan. I just turn on the camera and open my mouth, whatever I think about, I vlog about. You can imagine how much footage I don't end up using because I have a tendency to just ramble away! I usually like to throw in one or two quotes of inspiration and/or motivation, but I try and do it discreetly so people will have an easier time remembering the little quotes I throw at them.

ATL: We've noticed that you're very into personal health and exercise. What advice would you give to young women who are looking to be that little bit healthier?

N: Yes, I've recently become quite the health nut! My best advice would be this; throw away all the scales you have in your life. Numbers mean nothing now. People tend to focus too much on the numbers and not how they're feeling. You should want to get into shape to better your health! Losing weight and inches are all added incentives of course, but they shouldn't be the main focus. This is lifestyle change, NOT a diet, so be easy on yourself! Change starts when you do.

ATL: Do you think it is important for lesbians and bisexual women to "come out" in the media?

N: I wouldn't necessarily say it's important because coming out is much more of personal journey. Could we use more members on our team in the media eye? Of course! And we welcome them with open arms. But coming out should never be anyone's issue aside from the person coming out. Does that make sense? I hope it does!

ATL: Who inspires you?

N: I'm going to have to be super cliche right now and say that my mother is my biggest inspiration. She is the prime example of what hard work and a great attitude can get you in life. She migrated to the U.S when she was 14, knew NO English, had no family out here, and was able to not only put herself through high school AND college, she was able to get her citizenship completely on her own and her PhD later down the road. She has always been so inspiring and has given me the positive outlook to life that I carry with me today.

ATL: We've had a lot of questions regarding your very public relationship with YouTuber Jenna Anne. Does that get annoying? How do you overcome something so personal that was once so visible to the public?

N: I wouldn't say annoying, but it does get a little tiresome after a while. I feel like I've answered so many questions regarding that relationship! I was so young, Jenna was so young, I learned so much from it that I will forever carry with me. One thing being to maybe not post so much of my personal dating life online because of the repercussions. It's hard going through a break up, it's even harder when you have 40,000 people wanting to comment on it, but as I said, I learned and I don't regret a thing. When getting through a break up, it's important to remember that things didn't work for a reason. Life has other plans for you and that in itself helped me tremendously. I got excited about the future, I let my past remain there, and I moved on.

ATL: Do you ever attend fan conventions? Have you ever had any weird fan experiences?

N: I've been to Vidcon but that's about it. Have I ever had any weird fan encounters? No not at all! Anyone who has ever recognized me from the internet has always been so sweet when approaching me. I've befriended many of the people who have come up and introduced themselves. That takes a lot of courage! And I love when people say hello!

Time for some fan questions!

"Tash, do you think that there are enough LGBTQ role models in the public eye? When you were growing up who did you look up to? Also you should know that you're my role model and I think you're absolutely beautiful!"
- @Leanne_Ashley, UK

N: Dear @Leanne_Ashley, to answer your question, I do not think there are enough LGBT role models in the public eye, and I wish there were more! Coming out though is such a personal journey though and many aren't comfortable with being so open in the media eye. I hope that with the coming of time though and as sexual orientation becomes more accepted as the "norm", we'll get more LGBT role models emerging. Growing up I looked up to my mother. She's always been my biggest inspiration. The women is just amazing!

"I really want to come out to my family, but I'm scared! How did you do it?"
- Isobel, CA

N: Dear Isobel, coming out to my family was definitely a nerve wrecking experience! I came out at the end of my senior year as a goal to myself. I knew that going into college I wanted to be 100% comfortable with who I was, no more secrets, and that was my push to come out. I sat down my family members individually on different days, that way I would get practice in regards to talking about it. I realized that with the more people I came out to, the easier it became to do it.

"I follow you on Tumblr and see you writing the nicest things about your future wife. How can a girl capture your heart?"
- Chloe, ME

N: Dear Chloe, you are the sweetest! Thank you for taking the time to read my writings. That honestly means so much to me! How can a girl capture my heart you ask... well, I really don't have an answer to that question. The heart wants what the heart wants, I don't have any control over her (although at times I wish I did!)

LESlieVILLE: A New Lesbian Web Series!

Know what's great? Being able to access great lesbian content... for free!

Check out this press release for brand new web series, LESlieVILLE.

LESlieVILLE is...
...a webseries about connection, attraction and navigating between lust and true love. It's the story of two girls meeting, clicking, but one is already in a relationship. Still, the two carry on with their "friendship" firmly wrapped up in denial about what they're really doing - falling in love.
Filmed in the fall of 2012, this original indie webseries is premiering online on February 6th, 2013. Created by queer, indie filmmaker Nadine Bell (SPACE Channel, Out with Dad, The Devil's Mile), LESlieVILLE is a ten episode series exploring what happens when a woman meets the love of her life... while still dating someone else.
Bell’s main purpose in making LESlieVILLE was to give back to the community.   She feels it's extremely important for young queer men and women to have the chance to have some balance against the heteronormative feed that viewers ingest all their lives.  "I'm geeky for my people you know?" Bell adds. "I get obsessive fan girl over the silliest shows for the barest hint of girl/girl love. Seriously, I've watched everything.  I think you have to classify yourself as a geek when you are watching unsubbed German and Spanish soap operas to see gay content, trying to extrapolate the storyline as best you can!”
Among her cast are a Dora Award nominated actress, an actress stepping into her first feature film role directly after completing LESlieVILLE, a New York City and theatre scene alumni, and an internationally awarded science fiction author. And the crew is no less impressive. "I was honoured when Nadine asked me to be her cinematographer. I jumped at the opportunity, how could I not? I fell in love with her script immediately. I'm so proud of what she's done, and that I could be a part of this beautiful series," says Jason Leaver, international award winning creator of the queer webseries Out With Dad.
"...Sight", the first episode of the series, will go live on February 6th on www.llvseries.com. The first three episodes will also be screened for the public and the media at The Flying Beaver Pubaret (488 Parliament Street, Toronto, Canada). The event will run from 7 pm to 10 pm.
Sounds awesome, right?
And for all of you lucky people in Toronto (including me!), you'll be able to go to a screening of the series next week!
Put it in your diaries, ladies.

AfterEllen, We Salute You.

I'm guessing that most of you stumbled upon this blog because of AfterEllen.com.

If you didn't, and you still don't know what AfterEllen is, I'm suggesting that you get there right now.

A lot of my advertising comes courtesy of AE, with links to my blog at the end of every comment I make. (Yeah, I've never published a picture of me on the blog, so click
here if you want to see me.)

Therefore, because of all the good they do for me, I thought they deserved a shout-out from me.

AfterEllen is possibly one of the best, if not the best, lesbian and bisexual entertainment website online today. They often publish new, official gay information before any other websites or news-site, giving gay women the resources they need efficiently.

Founded by Sarah Warn, the website was started in 2002, after she realized that there was so little great lesbian content on the web.

Just recently, the entire site was taken over by writer Karman Kregloe, who also happens to be married to out comedian Bridget McManus, who also happens to vlog on the site. It's like a big chain of inter-connectedness.

Many of the writers also vlog about the pros and cons of lesbianism, entertainment and general civil rights. Great shows such as Skins and Grey's Anatomy are also re-capped, alongside reviews of music, competitions and the occasional opinion poll for the readers to vote on.

So there you have it.

I can't really do the site justice. It's done so much for the lesbian community single-handedly, so you should just get there as soon as you can and check it out.

But don't forget to keep coming here! ;)
