Rogers & Hollands Jewelers Expands Into the LGBT Market

Rogers & Hollands Jewelers Expands Into LGBT Market By Adding Rony Tennenbaum Wedding Jewelry to their Bridal cases in Two of their Chicagoland Locations

Chicago, IL – With marriage equality making major strides across the country, the burgeoning same-sex wedding industry is attracting a wide range of companies with years of experience in the wedding business.

One of the largest family owned jewelry chains in the States, Rogers & Hollands, is expanding its demographic reach and marketing to include the LGBT community by adding a new wedding jewelry collection created to celebrate marriage and equality.

The premier jewelry chain, which operates several stores throughout the Chicagoland area and throughout the Midwest, has just announced the addition of Rony Tennenbaum’s Jewelry collection to its bridal cases in both its Woodfield Mall location in Schaumburg, and in downtown Chicago’s Water Tower Place stores.
With stores across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri and Wisconsin, Rogers & Hollandsbelieves that adding the Rony Tennenbaum collection will allow them a wider outreach and include same-sex couples as part of their all-inclusive accepted family of consumers.

Rony Tennenbaum Jewelry has been sending a strong message of inclusiveness to the LGBT community for almost a decade.  As a wedding jewelry designer for over 25 years, Tennenbaum’s unique wedding and engagement ring styling is built with fashionable timeless features and driven by a strong sense of sentiment.  Tennenbaum recognized the lack of attention the LGBT community was receiving in wedding jewelry and designed his brand to showcase high end designs beyond stereotypical rainbows and triangles.

More than just a designer, Tennenbaum understands the need in educating a generation of retailers as well as consumers who are facing new traditions and etiquettes.  His outreach to the community on “The New Etiquettes of the Rainbow” is a step in teaching both retailers and consumers about the new options in wedding jewelry etiquette.  He also consults about making educated purchases.

As these etiquettes are being written by the LGBT community, visionary retailers such as Rogers & Hollands are seeking outTennenbaum’s expert understanding in the culture, tastes and needs of the LGBT community, as well as the jewelry and diamond worlds.

Already distributed in states such as: Connecticut, New York, Illinois, Florida, Washington and Virginia, Tennenbaum is thrilled to be adding his line of wedding jewelry to the Rogers & Hollands chain. In his opinion, the stores already have a strong loyal following and the outreach to include the LGBT community will only strengthen their foothold as a bridal destination.

At the helm of his brand, Tennenbaum is not only breaking the mold with his designs, but is also using his expertise and message behind his jewelry to be in the vanguard of a new generation of jewelry consumers, and taking with him any pioneers who wish to join forces with him and his message on the journey.

DINAH SHORE 2014 Breaks ALL Club Skirts ATTENDANCE RECORDS!

CLUB SKIRTS BREAKS ALL ATTENDANCE RECORDS AS CROWDS GATHERED
FROM ALL OVER THE GLOBE TO WITNESS WHAT SOME ARE CALLING

THE BEST DINAH LINE UP IN HISTORY.

PALM SPRINGS, CA - There are no words to describe the 2014 Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend. Pulling all the stops, the event was not only massive  but was also, and most importantly, pure magic. The Dinah 2014 was filled with special moments, unforgettable firsts, and significant milestones.

Thousands of women from all over the world gathered in Palm Springs over this past weekend to attend the 24th anniversary of the biggest lesbian event of its kind on the planet, Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend - the original Dinah Shore Weekend.

The Dinah 2014 was all about celebration, living out loud and transforming lives.

The legendary annual 5-day event not only provided a life changing experience to all attendees offering them the freedom to be who they truly are and gain a tremendous amount of self worth, but also to its epic slate of Top Ten Billboard headliners that made up one hell of a line up - one of the greatest in The Dinah's history.

Tegan and Sara’s sold out concert marked the first time the lesbian cult favorites performed at an all lesbian event. The Canadian twin sisters gave an emotionally heartfelt speech on stage about how they’ve always dreamed of attending The Dinah.

Rap titan EVE, who drew massive crowds, enjoyed her Dinah experience so much that she joined the crowd on the dance floor after her electrifying show. Mary Lambert, the voice behind Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ VMA award-winning pro-equality “Same Love”, brought the crowd to tears at the Sunday Pool Party with a live performance that can only be described as stunningly divine. Meanwhile Grammy Award-Winning R&B diva, Evelyn "Champagne" King raised the roof with her multi-million selling classic old-school smashes  “Shame” and ”Love Come Down”.

Also, hip-hop’s biggest revelation, Iggy Azalea, whose brand new single “Fancy” is currently sitting at #1 on several music charts around the world, gave a killer performance during the White Party delivering her spellbinding rap songs with effortless repartee and leaving Dinah audiences in complete awe. Having played an integral part in catapulting the careers of international superstars in the likes of Lady Gaga, Kesha, Katy Perry and The Pussycat Dolls - all Dinah alumnae - the Aussie blonde bombshell is certifiably already on her way to follow the footsteps of her predecessors.

Another smash hit at this year’s monumental Dinah Shore Weekend was the L Word Pool Party hosted in association with Showtime. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the event had to be extended (at the last minute) to Sunday as well due to overwhelming response.

The L Word reunion was a Dinah exclusive with the series icons, Laurel Holloman selling her abstract art poolside, and Leisha Hailey and Katherine Moennig hosting a meet-and-greet that wrapped around the side of the entire pool area of the Hilton hotel.

As 2014 marked the 10th Anniversary of the official television debut of The L Word, Club Skirts and SHOWTIME proudly commemorated the nostalgia of a memorable era in lesbian culture that celebrated out loud our “girls in tight dresses who drag with mustaches”.

All in all, The Dinah 2014 was beyond EPIC - significantly the largest Dinah EVER.

The legendary Palm Springs’ signature event broke all records on so many different levels and proved to be an unprecedented massive success.

A cultural phenomenon that has over these past 24 years reached stratospheric proportions,The Dinah has certifiably come to represent an ever-growing movement that has crossed over to mainstream bringing more and more visibility to the lesbian community - one that had never existed before.

As The Dinah 2014 came to a close, we all departed Palm Springs with profound nostalgia for a one-of-a-kind weekend that gifted our hearts with unforgettable memories and changed our lives forever.

We can now all look forward to next year as the Dinah turns 25, April 1-5, 2015.
Club Skirts founder and producer, Mariah Hanson, is already planning for the milestone Silver Jubilee’s Anniversary, which promises to be like nothing we've ever seen before.

Hot Salt Beef: The NEW Community/Dating Site for the Jewish LGBT Community!

HotSaltBeef, an exclusive and completely inclusive social networking site for Jewish LGBT (JLGBT) people, was launched on Sunday 6th April 2014.

After noticing a gap in the market for a networking site that integrates the social, cultural and community aspects of Jewish life specifically aimed at JLGBT people, Founder Allan Davis took a leap of faith and created HotSaltBeef — a social networking platform for JLGBT people where they can celebrate the things that connect them at their core, build a local and global online community, make business connections and perhaps even find love.

Hot Salt Beef is woven into the fabric of being Jewish. Who doesn’t like a Hot Salt Beef Sandwich? It’s something every Jewish person instantly associates with — it brings back memories of comfort, familiarity, belonging… and well, food.

Food forms a big part of Jewish culture. All the major Jewish festival revolve around the family sitting together for a big meal… It’s what brings us together.

And therein lays the philosophy behind HotSaltBeef: Family, safety, connection, community, conversation, comfort, love and belonging.

Being an exclusive social networking site for JLGBT people may seem like a shortcoming at first, but the truth is there are certain things that are so uniquely Jewish that we need a space where we can connect and converse comfortably without having to provide a ‘backstory’… We sometimes want to 'kibbitz' (gossip) in a chat room and 'kvetch' (complain) about the rising house prices, without feeling the need to explain what we are actually doing.

Apart from that, because of our displacement throughout history, Jewish people have an almost genetic urge to build communities and find a ‘place called home’.

HotSaltBeef has the potential to provide that sense of togetherness and 'home-coming' online… And that’s why HotSaltBeef is ‘keeping kosher’.

Instead of having a single focus — being a dating site only — HotSaltBeef is more like the bakery in a Jewish neighborhood… a place where you get your bagels, perhaps bump into your lawyer or doctor and if you like, flirt with the 'Shaineh maidel' (beautiful young lady) behind the counter. The dating element is still there but the focus is much more on community building — it is not about ‘sex’ or about posting photos of your tuchas (or any other revealing bits) for the world to see.

‘HotSaltBeef and Mustard’ is the newsletter and blog section, bringing news and views from around the world. The aim is to involve members from across the globe to contribute with their reviews, travel tips, fresh and relevant news events and historical insights to strengthen the fabric of our online community.

In terms of future developments, HotSaltBeef will soon include a Business Directory for members to promote their own business or to recommend a business that may interest the community, and also host a classifieds section to sell anything from rare Barbara Streisand CDs to advertising holidays.

While the site is still in its teething-phase, membership is limited to ‘invitation only’ and the first 500 members who sign up will receive a FREE membership.

For more information about signing up, visit http://hotsaltbeef.com/

For more information contact Allan Davis:

email: allan@hotsaltbeef.com

Allan Davis, the Founder and creator of HotSaltBeef has been an out and proud Jewish gay man for over 30 years. His Gay and Jewish bits come in equal parts. Born in London in the 1960’s Allan had a very Jewish upbringing and education. He ‘came out’ in 1983, when the world was a very different place for LGBT people: being Out & Proud still raised eyebrows and marriage and having children wasn’t even an option. Thirty years later and the world is… well, almost as good as a Hot Salt Beef Sandwich. Allan’s only worry now is to convince his father to pay for a big wedding!

THE ELLA INTERNATIONAL LESBIAN FESTIVAL, MALLORCA

The ELLA International Lesbian Festival in Mallorca, 4-8th Sept. 2014, is a revolutionary and new concept for women-only vacation fun: a complete mix of DJ and live music, culture, dance and acrobatic shows, arts and sports on a four day exciting and easily customizable program!

Choose the kind of vacation you wish to spend in function of your interests and of the kind of women you want to meet. Customize, book, and live the experience of a lifetime!

And all this on the beautiful island of Mallorca, one of the great natural destinations of the World.

One cannot imagine how amazing the island is. Breathtaking limestone cliffs plunge into translucent turquoise waters, and vast plains filled with almonds, carobs, olives and vineyards stretch generously across the interior. Beautiful and discreet coves serve as reminders of why the world long ago fell in love with this beautiful Island.

But the Mallorcan summer is about so much more than beaches: Mallorca offers a wide variety of culinary delights, wonderful wines, welcoming locals and last but not least natural attractions, at the centre of the whole experience.

Kristin Hansen, managing director of Hansen&Partner and of the ELLA Festival, realized that Mallorca was the ideal place to create a Lesbian Festival where thousands of women from all over the world could meet and share together their interests for music, art, culture, sports, nature and party, and could not understand the lack of quality leisure offer in the Lesbian world.

Many years of LGBT-related events, experiences and international contacts fostered what was to become ELLA International Lesbian Festival.

After a successful 2013 edition, ELLA Festival 2014 proposes from the 4-8th of September 2014 not only amazing musicians, artists and performers during night events, but also a whole day program and activities to satisfy body and soul in a friendly, entertaining, cultural, artistic and women-oriented atmosphere.

The three ELLA recommended Hotels are located in front of the sea in the heart of Palma's harbour, and just a few hundred meters from most venues which are, if not the nicest, simply amazing.

Whatever it is you are looking for on your holiday you will find in the program of ELLA Festival 2014. Our simple web-system allows you to customize comfortably and easily your vacation, always controlling your spending and choosing exactly the activities you wish to attend...individually or on packs... NO to paying for things that do not fulfil you, and YES to meeting women who share your same interests.

You can find all the information and book on our web www.ellafestival.com and on facebook.com/ellafestivalmallorca!!

Let your sensations drive you to Mallorca, experience new emotions, and meet just your kind of women!

Hasta Luego!

AN OPEN LETTER TO JESSIE J: Saying Bisexuality is a "Phase" is Problematic

by Lauren W

Today is a sad day. Not because Jessie J has claimed she is straight - we should all be allowed to simply be who we are - but because she says she has "outgrown" her bisexuality, and it was just a "phase".

The British starlet took to Twitter this week, tweeting I fancy/date/love men and only men. Is that “straight to the point” enough?

Fair enough, you're straight. Good for you, Jessie.

The point for discussion here is that Jessie implicated that her bisexuality was a "phase".

The Domino singer also tweeted:
Remember the thing that you tried/did back in the day. The phase you had? That is so not YOU anymore?! And you look back and think wow how I've changed. I would never do that now. Something that you don't even talk about or want to talk about anymore. Because you've moved on? That was just part of you growing up? Discovering yourself and working out what you liked and disliked.... Remember?
(Source: Jessie J via TMI)
Here's the thing, Jessie. When parents of young people hear you comparing bisexuality to other 'phases' young people go through, it sparks the thought within them that their children are also just bisexual "for the time being".

Yes, we all went through phases. But here's the thing. Saying you're bisexual is not the same as a 14-year old going through a "grunge phase", or a "scene kid" phase.

The thing is, Jessie, you were never bisexual and you always knew this. We understand that you may have used this idea as a publicity stunt, and you may have also claimed you were bisexual because you had brief flings with women in the past. But we all know that sleeping with a woman once does not constitute bisexuality.

There are many of us who slept with men for years before realising we only wanted to sleep with women. Does that mean we classify ourselves as once straight? Of course not. I, for example, briefly dated men when I was younger, but would I say I was straight back then? No. But I presume you will attempt to claim you were bisexual at one point in your life.

It is dangerous when young girls (and boys!) hear words such as "phase" and phrases such as "I grew out of it". This can suggest to young queer people that they too will 'grow out of it' one day. Those posters of a half-naked Katy Perry on that young girl's wall? Nah, they'll grow out of it. The young boy who has a crush on his best friend? It's an anomaly, and he'll grow out of it. This is DANGEROUS. Not only could such young people have high hopes for their sexuality to 'change' and be disappointed when they still want to bang members of the same-sex by the time they reach 18, but buzzwords such as 'phase' can lead to dire consequences.

In the worst cases, devout young religious people will lose faith in their God, whom they have prayed to for hours on end to help them change, but to no avail. (I am not championing religion here, I am simply given different examples of how this could negatively affect our youth.) Others will slump into a deep depression; some may even contemplate suicide once they realise they cannot 'grow out of it' like you supposedly have. Is this something you intended when you explained your heterosexuality? Probably not. But you definitely did not think about what you were saying before you published your words to 6.5 million Twitter followers.

Again, it's not your announced heterosexuality that is sparking such a response from ATL, it is the way in which you phrased it. Comparing bisexuality to that phase you had when you would only listen to Status Quo is incomparable on so many levels.

Next time, stars like Jessie need to think about their choice of words (see: Laurel Hollman - click the link!) when making adjustments to the way they have previously labelled themselves.

Though they may not realise what the effects of their words may be, there are people who see celebrities today as role models. We need to ensure this does not happen again.
