The Dinah Shore Weekend 2015 Announces More Music Stars!

BEBE REXHA & IVY LEVAN
ARE THE DINAH’S PICK TO BE THE NEXT BIG THING IN POP

The Dinah Got Them Before They Explode & Now You Get To See Them Up Close And Personal

Palm Springs, CA – Pop music’s new “it” girls, Bebe Rexha and Ivy Levan have been added to the 2015 Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend blockbuster entertainment line up.

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, The Dinah is once again showcasing the hitmakers of tomorrow.
Ivy Levan will take center stage at the Dinah’s “White Party” on Friday, April 3rd, while Bebe Rexha will be performing at “Black Party” on Saturday, April 4th, both held at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, CA.

As a MUST DO venue that has proven to be the catalyst propelling new young artists to superstar status, The Dinah was a logical choice for Bebe Rexha and Ivy Levan who are poised to reach household name status and conquer a global audience in the New Year.

One of the fastest rising artists to keep your eyes on in 2015, Bebe Rexha has been racing up the charts with her 2014 debut single  “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You”.  The song is currently at US Top 40 radio, with over 125k singles sold to date and counting, and approaching 10 million streams on Spotify.

The pop sensation is now working on her debut album to be released in the Summer of 2015, and readying to release her second single “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy” in January 2015.

“Bebe Rexha is a girl on fire and we are so excited she is going to burn it up at The Dinah. She's slated to have a big year in 2015 and we'll have the opportunity to see her before she takes off, “ says Mariah Hanson, founder & producer of The Dinah.  “Not just a huge talent, she's also a blazing beauty so us Dinah girls get a double whammy this year.  I'm looking forward to her CD early next year and can't wait to watch it ignite and take off.”

The Brooklyn native made a name for herself most famously penning the Eminem/Rihanna number-one Billboard Hot 100 hit “The Monster”, and performing vocals on Cash Cash’s 2014 US Certified massive club smash “Take Me Home”, which she also co-wrote.”  She fronted Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz ‘s side project “Black Cards” before embarking on a solo career.

Billboard Magazine named the gifted young singer/songwriter "an Artist That Will Help Define 2014" – a title she shares with another buzz heavy breakthrough artist: Sam Smith - but make no mistake, 2015 will be the year Bebe Rexha will be storming the charts and selling out arenas.

The same is true of singer/songwriter and Cherrytree Records recording artist Ivy Levan.  Raised in Bentonville, Arkansas, Ivy displayed an affinity for singing and performing from a very young age.  Ivy's mother filled the house with an enormous variety of music:  R&B, Soul, Dance, Big Band and Rock 'n' Roll and as she grew up, she began to widely expand her musical palette ranging from Whitney Houston to Depeche Mode, Etta James to The Misfits. While there were no musical boundaries at home, Ivy was most drawn towards music by extraordinary vocalists, hard-driving rock bands and heavy, urban beats which culminate in her own distinct version of swagger with a unique sound built around powerful, sultry vocals full of grit and venom.

“Ivy Levan. Wow, what a force. She is so mesmerizing and sultry! I love her music and her raw intensity. She brings serious girl power to The Dinah and that's what we're all about. I have no doubt she is going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2015 and we get a sneak peak in April. I personally can't wait!" comments Mariah Hanson.

Levan’s debut EP titled Introducing the Dame, sparked buzz from Access Hollywood, Billboard, Allure, CBS News, Glamour, Perez Hilton, Huffington Post and more.  Billboard declares, “(Ivy Levan is) an entrancing pop singer with uninhibited soul-infused stylings,” while Glamour deems Levan “ the next big thing…toe tapping rhythms and sultry vocals,”  and Huffington Post praises Ivy’s “vocal virtuosity.”  Performances include the Carnegie Hall stage in support of the Rainforest Fund Benefit, to The Late Show with David Letterman with  Sting any many more.

Ivy has already hit #1 on Billboard’s Next Big Sound Chart, won two consecutive MTVU's The Freshman, and her music has over 2 million YouTube/VEVO views.  Earlier this month, Ivy debuted the lyric video for “The Dame Says”- the track which she co-wrote, is a taste of what’s to come in anticipation of the release of her brand new single “Biscuit” out January 13th on Cherrytree Records/Interscope. Levan will release her debut album this Spring 2015.  More info to be announced soon.

Don’t miss the chance to see pop music’s next big thing at The Dinah!

FEMME LESBIAN DOCUMENTARY "Girl on Girl" To Continue Shooting!

[BROOKLYN NY—JANUARY 6, 2015]

Exactly two years after beginning her journey: Girl on Girl, director and LGBTQ activist, Jodi Savitz, will embark on a road trip down the East Coast to shoot the final footage of the documentary.

The groundbreaking film highlights the emotional consequences of feminine lesbian invisibility— the phenomena in which, due to their feminine or “passing” appearance, many LGBTQ women are assumed to be straight by the outside world and are thus rendered invisible to each other. The film’s cast features seven women from New York, Florida, Utah, and North Carolina, including ‘celesbian’ Lauren Bedford Russell (The Real L Word: Season 3).

The trip corresponds with the launch of the film’s Indiegogo Campaign this Thursday, January 8th. The campaign, entitled, “REEL Visibility,” aims to raise $25,000 to fund the documentary through to post-production. Donation perks include exclusive credit on the Girl on Girl film (in accordance incrementally with their donation), up to and including the opportunity to submit a personal video clip. The collective video clips will then be assembled as a short film entitled, Reel Visibility, and will play as a precursor to the film.

Girl on Girl has become an entity greater than the documentary itself. It is a community driven movement and platform for fan engagement that goes beyond the scope of a traditional film release. The REEL Visibility project is one of the myriad ways that Girl on Girl continues to break down the barriers between filmmakers and their audience.

Already equipped with the car and cameras, the team is adding a unique twist to their fundraising efforts by offering fans who live along the East Coast the chance to become a part of The REEL Visibility Road Trip!

For those fans looking to donate more substantially to the campaign, the director and cinematographer will personally drive the donors' home, where they will professionally film their clip to be featured in the “REEL Visibility” short film. The clip will also be posted online in real time, giving the 250,000 Girl on Girl Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter followers the chance to see both sides of documentary filmmaking, from production to live engagement! Fans can follow both the campaign and the film’s progress throughout January on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

The road trip is set for January 9th- January 22nd and the Indiegogo fundraising campaign will run through the end of February. Those fans interested in becoming a part of “REEL Visibility” on the road will therefore have a limited window of time to donate in order to be added onto the trip’s itinerary.

Do you live along the road trip route? (That is, along I-95 between NYC and Miami!)

Want to become part of The REEL Visibility Road Trip?

Here’s how:
1) Email ReelVisibility@gmail.com ASAP to contact a producer
2) We will contact you and confirm if we can come to your home
3) Once your visit is confirmed, DONATE $250+ on our Indiegogo campaign at www.girlongirlmovie.com/indiegogo
4) The team will meet you to professionally film your REEL Visibility clip
5) Get featured in the Reel Visibility short film and online!!!

Girl on Girl is produced and directed by burgeoning filmmaker, Jodi Savitz, and produced by Italian Golden Globe winner Dahlia Heyman, and Lauren Savitz. It is sponsored by the prestigious non-profit, New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), and therefore any donations made directly to NYFA on its behalf are tax-deductible.

TV FANGIRL MOMENT OF THE WEEK: Is Paily No More?

by Lauren W

Firstly, Happy New Year!

Secondly, I'm excited to tell you all about the new segment I dreamt up in my haze of watching too much television over the holidays.

"TV Fangirl Moment of the Week" is it's name, and, well, it's pretty self-explanatory what that entails. In short, I'm gonna tell you what I've been fan-girling the most over this week in television, and hopefully you'll let me know of some of your favourite television moments each week in the comments or on our Twitter!

So, here we go. My first ever TV fangirl moment of the week is...

I'm sorry to kickstart this new segment with something so sad but... MY PAILY HEART IS IN PAIN, YOU GAYS.

This week in Pretty Little Liars' Winter Premiere, power "teenage" lesbian couple Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) and Paige McCullers (Lindsey Shaw) said goodbye to one another in a pool full of tears. (Now, I'm not saying that I know Paige killed Mona (Janel Parrish) and that's why she's really leaving, but it's just a thought... Actually scrap that. I'm convinced she did it.)

Television has a habit of giving lesbian couples ridiculously heart-breaking airport scenes, (yes, this one was all too reminiscent of Calzona's airport break-up in season 7 of Grey's Anatomy), but somehow I am never prepared for it to happen over and over again.

Obviously I'm classing this moment as one to fan-girl over just because that final kiss goodbye sent a tingle to my otherwise cold and icy heart.

I'm also finding a little bit of solitude in the thought that this is probably not the last we've seen of Paige. She's a fan-favourite, and I think creator I. Marlene King has killed off far too many lesbians on this show already. Put it this way: at least Paige isn't dead. For now.

So, because this could be the last time we see Paige in a while, I've made this my first ever TV fan-girl moment of the week. My heart is bleeding.

TAMSIN (Rachel Skarsten) AND BO (Anna Silk) HAD SEX ON LOST GIRL AND THEN HAD A MAJOR POST-COITAL HEART TO HEART AFTERWARDS. THANK YOU, TELEVISION GODS.

What did you fan-girl most over on television this week?
