Girls That Roam Launches Its Travel Business Directory

Girls That Roam Launches Its Travel
Business Directory

(San Francisco, Calif. - January 13, 2014) Women are traveling and need to know where to stay, where to go, what to do and more. To help women travelers find businesses ready to serve them, Girls That Roam developed our travel business directory.

"This directory will help our customers find the right businesses that want to serve them," says Heather Cassell, publisher and editor of Girls That Roam. "It will also help businesses reach loyal women customers who want to feel confident in their journeys around the world. Businesses that join our directory will signal that they care about women travelers and want to serve them."

The searchable free online directory allows women to search hospitality, travel and travel-related businesses by destination, interest and more. If Girl Roamers, what Girls That Roam calls our followers, are searching for businesses that cater only to women or are women-owned they can do that. If they are searching for pet-friendly places to stay or vacations they can do that too. If they are looking to be only around adults or kid-friendly activities, they can do that too and much more. Whatever women want the directory will deliver with the help of our business partners.

Girls That Roam is extending an invitation to hospitality, travel and travel-related businesses to join the directory free for a limited time.

It's easy for businesses to add your listing(s) to the directory. Simply register on the right hand side of Girls That Roam, confirm the registration, login to submit a listing and upload your information including images.

Your business listing will be reviewed, confirmed or denied, and will be ready for Girl Roamers to access on Girls That Roam's directory within 48-hours.
Have an idea or trouble with the directory, please submit your comments and questions todirectory@girlsthatroam.com.

Girl on Girl: A Documentary About Feminine Lesbians

When I was contacted about this project, I was extremely excited.

The issue of femme lesbian invisibility both within the LGBTQ community and in the straight world is something I've wanted to write about for a long time on All Things Lesbian for two reasons.

One reason being that there are an array of ridiculous, false myths surrounding feminine lesbians particularly among straight people - the main misconception being that we don't even exist. The other reason (which is more important to me personally), is that when around members of the LGBTQ community, I find that I'm overlooked as a femme, and I'm often not included in debates surrounding issues regarding sexual orientation simply because I don't "look" gay.

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

If so, Girl on Girl might be the project for you.

Girl on Girl is a documentary which stars the lovely ladies above and a bunch of other feminine lesbians of varying race, class and age groups.

What do they aim to do? Not only does Girl on Girl attempt to represent the femme community, but it also tries to educate those who do not identify with this particular label and de-bunks some of the aforementioned myths.

I strongly urge everyone to check out the trailer below, whether you are male, female, gay or straight, because you might learn something.

Lesbian Short Film: The Reason Behind Me

Lesbian filmmaker Dani van Herk recently contacted us to tell us about her new lesbian short film, The Reason Behind Me.

The short has already been showcased at the Mardi Gras Film Festival in Sydney - a sure sign of success!

The entire thing is only 12 minutes long, so if you like great cinematography, Australian accents and hot blondes in suits, this one's for you!

Check it out right here, on All Things Lesbian:

Jodie Foster Finally Comes Out!

If you haven't heard by now, you're a little late to the coming out party.

At last night's Golden Globes, Jodie Foster officially came out publicly, in a rousing, tear-jerking speech.

Although criticized for being so indirect about the whole thing, Jodie was brave and came out in her own unique way to millions of people across the world.

Most people are angry that Foster avoided saying the words "gay" or "lesbian", and avoided blatantly stating the subject as much as she could before actually saying it.

She (comedically) stated "ladies and gentlemen, its time to tell you... I'm single", which people also got angry at. COME ON, she was doing it for comedic effect, which was only exacerbated by the fact that people already knew what she was talking about before she even said the words "coming out".

Jodie continued to thank her sons, her ex-partner and the public for enjoying this journey with her, leaving many stars including current Glee star, Kate Hudson, wiping away the tears.

At the end of her speech Jodie, exposing her emotions to the full, said "[I want to be] not so very lonely."

In my eyes, the way she went about it was only more poetic and memorable - people criticizing her should rather be thanking her because of the fact that she finally did something so terrifying on a huge world stage.

Not to be outdone, of course, show's host Amy Poehler closed the show by saying "we're going home with Jodie Foster. Goodnight!"

Hilarious.

But, on behalf of all of the LGBT community, thank you, Jodie. Thank you for showing the world that someone can be so successful and wonderful and talented and be in the media spotlight and still be part of our way of life.
